QUARRY OVERVIEW

There is a clear link between population, the economy and growth, and demand for aggregate. As regions and economies grow, so too does demand for aggregate. New Zealand uses on average 8-10 tonnes of aggregate every year for each adult and child. Aggregate supply is therefore a critical component that is central in contributing to the communities needs and meeting the regions existing and future infrastructure requirements.

Brookby Quarry has been in operation in one form or another since 1940 to service the Auckland region. Today it is a modern well-developed operation that is currently supplying 2.4 to 2.8 million tonnes of Greywacke annually into the Auckland region.

Brookby Quarry has the necessary resource consents and the capability to more than double its current production output from 2.4 to 6.3 million tonnes annually. The quarry has existing resource consents that allow sales (trucking movements out of the quarry) of 11.8 million tonnes per year as well as 211 million tonnes of aggregate resource currently consented for sale into the market. The operation is therefore well placed to meet the rapidly growing population growth that contributes to Auckland’s growing urbanisation and resulting infrastructure needs.

Brookby Quarry produces and supplies a wide range of high-quality products into the market. Primarily aggregate is supplied into the concrete, asphalt and construction sectors and sealing chip for roading.

Brookby Quarry's total aggregate resource is circa 670 million tonnes (211 million tonnes of measured resource and 450 million tonnes of inferred resource). This resource will ensure continuity of high-quality aggregate supply into the Auckland market for at least the next 200 years at the current level of demand.
